Matrix … or else, the grid of perpendicular straight lines that intersect at regular intervals and are equidistant … or the structure/skeleton as a tool upon which an entire architectural design or sculpture can be developed. A grid full of crossroads of paths, experiences, emotions, actions, and reactions … a grid made of light, sounds, memories, images, dreams, wishes...
The installation "Matrix" (2024) was born spontaneously after the first visit to the venue and brings together 7 grid-based works – using materials and techniques from my artistic vocabulary (painting, printmaking, collage, stitching, prints, ready-mades, etc.) – which were reassembled to support a journey. The timeless Thread of Ariadne – which endures to this day as the "red thread bound" [which refers to the unique Greek way to “Once Upon a time” in a magical poetic sense of storytelling, like the tale is being spun or woven together] – unravels through space and time, inviting the viewer to connect with their own emotions and create their own memories … because, although we do not all share the same experiences… we can easily connect as bearers of common emotions...
Each piece is a three-dimensional installation – open to multiple interpretation and views – within the space, initiating a dialogue with the unique form, use, and floor plan of the specific building, which feeds the works with energy from its own journey of decay over time...
Matrix… a grid palimpsest of memory and interconnectivity between the artwork, space, and viewer, as memories form an essential part of everyone's identity...
